REVIEWS:  Choice Awards
2006 Choice Awards - the best digital cameras, film cameras, lenses, and photo-related gear, based on the PhotographyREVIEW.com community user reviews.

What are the Choice Awards?
The PhotographyREVIEW.com Choice Awards honor the best digital cameras, film cameras, and other photography equipment reviewed by the PhotographyREVIEW.com community. The cameras and lenses below received the highest ratings and most favorable user reviews during the past year (approximately October 2005 through November 2006). The Choice Awards are special because they're based on user reviews from photographers who actually own and use the equipment regularly not professional camera testers or editors.

Photo-John's 2006 Picks for stand-out digital cameras and other notable photography products.
Photo-John's Picks - Sony Alpha A100 digital SLR camera
Sony Alpha A100 Digital SLR
Sony's first digital SLR, with a 10-megapixel sensor, Super Steady Shot image stabilization, and a great feature set.
Photo-John's Picks - Olympus Stylus 720 SW waterproof digital camera
Olympus Stylus 720 SW
Waterproof, shockproof, pocket-sized, and good image quality - it's not perfect, but there's nothing else that compares.
Photo-John's Picks - Lowepro Dryzone Rover hydration camera backpack
Lowepro Dryzone Rover Backpack
I've got a love-hate relationship with this backpack's awkward zipper. But it allows me to carry more camera equipment and H20 safely and comfortably and that means better backcountry photos.
Photo-John's Picks - Pixmantec RawShooter RAW conversion software
Pixmantec RawShooter Software
A wonderful RAW conversion program with innovative and powerful image adjustment tools. Unfortunately, Adobe bought it to roll into Lightroom, and they've discontinued updates.
Photo-John's Picks - Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di zoom lens
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di Lens
Great optics and an even better value for a fast, standard zoom lens - a very real alternative to Nikon and Canon pro lenses.

More about the PhotographyREVIEW.com Choice Awards
The PhotographyREVIEW.com Choice Awards are primarily based on the number of reviews and the averaged rating from our user reviews. When the numbers are close an editorial decision is made based on design innovation, value, special features, etc. If you own a camera or other photo equipment that you think should have received a Choice Award, please write a review. A product can't win a Choice Award unless photographers post reviews for it. So make sure to post reviews for all of your cameras, camera accessories, photography software, etc. If you work for a camera manufacturer and believe that your camera, lens, or other photo-related product deserved a Choice Award, please encourage photographers who own your products to post reviews on PhotographyREVIEW.com. If your products don't have reviews, they can't win.
